St. David's claimed their third trophy of the season after winning their second successive Twenty20 title after seeing off a spirited Police outfit by five wickets at the National Sports Centre (NSC) yesterday.

Winning the toss and electing to field, Delyone Borden's men went about putting in a workmanlike performance to restrict their opponents to a reachable total.

Opener Wendell Dottin top scored for Police with 38, while Vincent Bradshaw also shipped in 35.

Spinner Del Hollis took three for 10 and OJ Pitcher claimed two for 18, while Justin Pitcher, Borden and Chris Douglas all claimed one wicket apiece.

In reply, Justin Pitcher saw off any potential threat Police had with quickies Traddie Simpson and George O'Brien Jr. by blazing his to 32 to set up the victory.

Pitcher and skipper Borden saw the East Enders home, scoring 21 and 13 respectively.

Simpson ended with two for 16 and Melvin Best took a team high three wickets for 28 runs.

For his superb contribution with both bat and ball, Justin Pitcher was named man of the match.

Borden said each member of his squad had played his part in ensuring 2009 to be a memorable campaign for his winning team.

"It was a good match from start to finish," said Borden.

"I think we set the tone by having to field first and took our chances when they came, something that you need to do in this format of the game.

"Winning is all that matters and the most important thing to me when I'm on the pitch is my guys.

"They put their best foot forward each and every game.

"We wanted to win this again and I am extremely happy that we have.

"For me it is my first year as skipper and to win three trophies in a season is a better start than I could have asked for.

"The record speaks for itself and I'm delighted.

"Everyone has pitched in this year. When one person has failed someone else has taken up the slack.

"Tonight our plan was to see off their main bowlers, Traddie and George, which we managed and from there we saw what needed to be done and got on with it."
