Super PR tear up Tucker's to seal win

Scott Roy tees off at the seventh hole at Port Royal Golf Course during the Goodwill golf tournament final round yesterday.

Bermuda's golfers claimed the two main prizes as the Goodwill Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion yesterday.

Port Royal GC ¿ Dwayne Pearman, Michael Daniel, Craig "Hollywood" Christensen and Mark Beasley ¿ shot a magnificent 13-under par 57 at Tucker's Point to claim the net championship by four shots over Winchester CC.

While professional Scott Roy battled the elements at Port Royal to score 14 more points to finish with a total of 78, which was just enough to hand him the win ahead of Andy Fisher who grabbed an impressive 20 at Tucker's Point, but still ended up six short.

In the net event, Port Royal were pushed all the wat by Winchester ¿ James Lane, Charles Hartnett, Carroll Lowenstein Jr. and John Whittemore ¿ who shot an equally impressive 60 at Belmont Hills. But it just wasn't enough to close the gap.

Meanwhile overnight leaders Riddell's Bay struggled in the windy conditions at Port Royal in their last round, shooting an eight-over par 79 and tumbling down the leaderboard to eventually finish in a tie for 25th.

Farm Neck ¿ Kyle Fiore, Eric Bertonazzi, Rob Daigneault and John Fitzgerald ¿ finished third after a consistent week.

In the senior net division, Bear Hill ¿ Ed Whalley, Cosmo Trapani, Bob Young, Jim Leahy ¿ and Sharon CC ¿ Fran Dzwilewski, Dick Morse, Peter Smith, John Paul Jones ¿ battled it out for top spot at Port Royal, with Bear Hill's final round 61, giving them a 45-under par total, and a nine shot win over their nearest rivals.

Ted Griffin, who led the senior professional division from start to finish, sealed a narrow three shot lead over Donny Jarvis after the pair both enjoyed the relative calm at Tucker's Point. Griffin scored 16 points, and although Jarvis outscored him yesterday, it wasn't enough.

In the first ladies event, Susan Bond came out on top, beating Judithann Astwood by nine points to finish with a total of 36, nine better than her opponent.
