Teens get chance to impress at U-19 trials
Bermuda Cricket Board will be holding open trials for the Under-19 national team this month.
Head coach David Moore wants to have a look at all the eligible players on the Island, even if they haven't been in the squad before. And every place is up for grabs.
Attendance is compulsory for all current members of the squad, while those who feel they should be in the side, will be given a chance to prove themselves.
"I don't get to see all the Under-19s around, and I also think that it's nice to have a transparent process so that young players know that if they are late developers, or they've only recently taken the game up, or come back to cricket after some time with football, they're still in the mix with a chance," said Moore.
"I think it's important for them to understand that, parents to understand that. And it's just a common process from where I come from that every year players come and trial and they've got to present themselves and prove that they are good enough to be in the side.
"If they (current squad members) don't turn up they have to have a pretty good excuse as to why not, and if that's not legitimate, it just shows me that they are not willing to make the committment that's required at all times."
The trials will take place at BHS on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 of September from 5.30 pm to 8 pm. And all those wishing to attend are asked to call the BCB and register with Ms Samantha Dill on 292 8958.
