Top two set for FA Cup clash
Dandy Town will travel to Bernard Park to face off against North Village in undoubtedly the tie of the round of 16 in the 2010 edition of the FA Cup, with the draw being held yesterday at the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) headquarters.
The pair are both currently fighting it out at the top of the Premier Division, along with PHC, and a clash of this magnitude before the Christmas break will surely make someone’s holiday.
With the round of 16 being played on December 19th, these will be the last matches of 2010, with the winner taking a psychological advantage into the New Year.
Defending champions Devonshire Cougars will open defence of their crown at home against X’Roads with the second match of a double header, while Wolves will also be at home when they host Robin Hood in the opening game at Devonshire Rec.
BAA Field will also feature a double header, when Boulevard have an away fixture at the home ground against Prospect in the opener, while Southampton Rangers will travel to BAA to take on MR Onions in the second match.
Matches start at 12.30pm and 2.30pm for both venues.
In the round’s only other top-flight clash, PHC will welcome Devonshire Colts to Southampton Oval, while St. David’s will look to advance to the quarterfinals at the expense of Ireland Rangers at Lords.
Hamilton Parish will host St. George’s Colts at Wellington Oval, with all these matches kicking off at 2.30pm.
Also being drawn yesterday was Shield and Friendship semi finals that threw out exciting matches as well.
Champions North Village will play PHC for the right to feature in the final, while Devonshire Cougars will clash with the winner of the Southampton Rangers/St. George’s match.
In the Shield, BAA will face off against Hamilton Parish, while Wolves and Prospect will lock horns for a spot in the final.
Matches for both Friendship and Shield competitions will be held next year.
