Trialist Hall set for second spell at Plymouth

Bermuda Hogges' goalkeeper Freddy Hall has been invited to return for a second spell at Plymouth Argyle after completing a successful trial at the English League One side.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper sufficiently impressed the Pilgrims coaching staff who are keen to bring him back to Home Park in December with a view to signing him on a permanent contract.

Hall was recommended to Plymouth by Hogges co-owner Paul Scope and former West Ham striker Clyde Best. He joined the first team squad on their tour of Holland where he played a full match against SC Cambuur

Although Plymouth coach Peter Reid does not think Hall is quite ready for the muck and nettles of the English game just yet, he has left the door ajar for him to win a deal later this year,

"Hall has done OK. He will be going back to Bermuda to finish off the season but there is a possibility we'll be getting him back towards the end of the year," the former Sunderland manager told The Herald newspaper.

"He just needs a bit more coaching. He's done smashing to be fair but we're negotiating with the club to get him back.

"I don't think he's experienced enough to come in at this moment but he has got potential. I have got a couple of ongoing things and I will probably bring in another one or two keepers."

Scope said Hall was in good spirits despite not being offered an immediate contract and was looking forward to returning to the southwest coast club.

"He's coming home tomorrow but they have told him to come back in September when they hope to offer him a deal," he said. "Right now they have too many under-contract keepers but they believe that might change later in the year.

"They say he's done well, he's done great in training and played well on tour. As an athlete, and a raw talent, they think he has a lot of potential.

"I thought he might get something offered straightaway but Freddy's taken it in his stride, he knows he did well and he's up for going back."

Another one of Scope's recommendations, Tyrell Burgess, will continue his pursuit of a professional contract at English League Two side Barnet.

The 24-year-old former Vancouver Whitecaps winger has spent the last month having try-outs at Conference side Gateshead.

"He's had a month at Gateshead and he's done okay. He trained yesterday with Barnet and hopefully he'll get a pre-season game this week," Scope said.

"I've talked to a few other clubs about him as well so we'll so what happens."
