Trio eye semi-finals as Open League play continues

Bermuda Cricket Board's revised Open League schedule continues this weekend with the unbeaten trio of Somerset, Devonshire and St.George's all keen to make further inroads towards qualifying for the competition's semi-finals.

Somerset got the better of Southampton Rangers, St.George's were comfortable winners against Somerset Bridge while Willow Cuts proved no match for Devonshire Recreation Club in last week's round of group matches.

The remaining games involving Western Stars and Police, St.David's and PHC and Bailey's Bay and Flatts failed to get underway due to unprepared pitches.

The Board confirmed yesterday that those matches are to be rescheduled for a later date.

Meanwhile, today will see Somerset travel the length of the island to face St.David's at Lords while Rangers will continue their search for a first win of the season when they host PHC at Southampton Oval.

Elsewhere, Somerset Bridge host Bailey's Bay at White Hill Field, St.George's take on Flatts at Wellington Oval, Police will battle with Central Counties rivals Young Men's Social Club at Somerset Cricket Club while Cleveland take on Devonshire at Sea Breeze Oval.

Willow Cuts and Western Stars each have byes today while the originally scheduled match at the National Sports Centre involving Bermuda Under-19s and Leg Trappers has been postponed, the BCB have confirmed.

Open League action resumes tomorrow with PHC taking on Somerset at White Hill Field, Southampton hosting St.David's at Southampton Oval, Bailey's Bay taking on St.George's at Sea Breeze Oval and Flatts locking horns with Somerset Bridge at Lords.

Remaining matches will see Young Men's Social Club facing off against Western Stars at Devonshire Rec. and Willow Cuts hosting Cleveland at Somerset Cricket Club.

Devonshire and Police each have a bye tomorrow.
