Trott's heroics thwarted as St. George's hang on to claim draw

Bailey's Bay skipper Rodney Trott turned in outstanding performances with both bat and ball but his heroics were still insufficient to prevent visitors St. George's from securing a draw at Sea Breeze Oval in Premier Division action yesterday.
The former vice-captain of the Bermuda senior national team first struck an impressive 71 to lead his side to a formidable total, hitting nine fours and a six. His first 50 runs came off 72 balls.
Also among the runs for Bay were Cal Dill jr (33), Rodney Masters (29), Terrin Fray (25), Wendell White (20) and Kyle Hodsoll (15 not out).
Trott and Dill shared in the biggest partnership, taking the total from 92 for three to 154.
Veteran Herbie Bascome was the pick of the St. George's bowlers with four for 81 off 24 overs while Makai Hodsoll claimed two for 44 off 10 overs.
St. George's batted slowly in reply as efficient bowling pinned them down but top scorer Richard Todd refused to be restrained as he slammed 65 with six fours and three sixes. Richie Foggo jr followed on 21.
Bay skipper Trott was his side's top bowler, snatching three for 32 off 18 overs, including 10 maidens.

Even without player-coach Charlie Marshall, Social Club proved to be too strong for a young Stars team, as they won by 38 runs at Devonshire Rec.
The home team were able to reach a respectable total off 50.2 overs after batting first with David Lovell jr slamming 69, including seven fours and three sixes while Daniel Morgan chipped in with 38, Detroy Smith 36, Pierre Smith 16, Nakia Smith 14 and Terry Thomas 12.
Treadwell Gibbons jr and Tre Manders each took two wickets for Stars, Gibbons finishing with two for 35 off 14 overs while Manders claimed two for 43 off 6.2 overs.
Stars fell short of the target despite making a spirited effort while facing 49.1 overs.Manders led the fightback with a high score of 35, Gibbons followed on 24 and Rohaan Davis hit 22.
Nakia and Detroy Smith did the damage with the ball for Social Club, the former taking four for 34 off 17 overs while Detroy ended up with three for 44 off 11 overs.

Somerset Bridge 89
A low scoring contest at Lord's saw Flatts defeat Somerset Bridge by 43 runs with Ronald Gibbons and Kyuan Franks taking three wickets apiece.
Gibbons got his haul while conceding 33 runs from 10 overs while Franks' more impressive analysis saw him finish with three for just six runs off just four overs. Dayon Kerry chipped in with two wickets for 12 runs off three overs.
Chasing a target of 133, Bridge never looked comfortable. The only batsman offering any resistance was Donnie Charles who top scored with 36 while Scott Tucker contributed 10. No other player managed to reach double figures as Bridge succumbed in 26 overs.
Earlier Flatts also found scoring runs difficult but still were able to make a respectable score after a sluggish start. They were bowled out in 33 overs.
Barry DeCouto was their highest scorer with an undefeated 29 while veteran Phillip Burgess followed on 23. Isiah Lewis scored 19, Norman Brian 14 and Justin Paynter 13.
Noel Woods did the bowling damage for Bridge, finishing with four for 27 off nine overs. Kirk Simons claimed three for 25 off seven overs and Donnie Charles two for 22 off five.

Somerset CC 178
PHC defeated Somerset by 26 runs at White Hill Field to keep on course to reach the semi finals of the Open League competition.
Guiding the men in black to victory were batsman Ricardo Brangman who hammered a maiden half-century for his new club and cousin Dean Stephens, Cal Waldron and David Adams who claimed two wickets each.
Led by Brangman's top knock of 97-ball 69 that included seven boundaries, PHC rattled up 204 for nine in 65 overs, the maximum allowed for the team batting first.
Brangman, who transferred from Devonshire with cousin Stephens during the off-season, shared in three vital stands that gave PHC's bowlers just enough runs to defend in the end.
He added 67 with wicketkeeper/batsman Jason Anderson (39) for the first wicket, 33 for the third wicket with Stephens and a further 30 for the fourth wicket with Daniel Caines (36).
Spinners Joshua Gilbert (three for 19) and Hasan Durham (three for 44) and skipper Jacobi Robinson (two for 49) were the pick of the Somerset bowling.
Robinson also led the Somerset batting, belting 68 off 56 balls after his team had slipped to 51 for four.
The national team all-rounder cracked five fours and three sixes and along with Rual Khan (23) added 69 for the fifth wicket before PHC applied the brakes by picking up four wickets for the addition of 28 runs.
Jordan DeSilva continued the fight lower down the order. The Under-19 national team player stroked a fluent 30 and added 28 runs for the eighth wicket with fellow teenager Shaquille Jones (two) before veteran wrist spinner Adams (two for 32) made the vital breakthrough in the 47th over to leave Somerset for dead.
Waldron led the PHC bowling with two for 18 while Stephens also had two for 32.
Willow Cuts 217
Cleveland County 132
Cousins Sheroy and Kevon Fubler inspired Willow Cuts to an 85-run win over Cleveland at Somerset Cricket Club.
Skipper Sheroy led from the front by smashing 85 before passing the torch to medium pacer Kevon who bagged six for 36 to cap Cuts' first win in Open League play this season.
Sheroy blasted 12 fours and a six and along with Deunte Darrell (45) added 133 runs for the third wicket to take the match completely away from Cleveland.
Also among the runs for Cuts was Ryan Shepperd who smashed 30 at the top of the order.
Dennis Musson jr (four for 54), skipper Tamuari Tucker (four for 41) and Lavarr Talbot were the pick of the Cleveland bowling.
Cleveland, who lost Courtney Trott to injury earlier in the field, came up well short in reply with only Stephen Douglas (29), Talbot (25) and Byan Robinson (22) offering resistance.
