Under-19s replace Police in Premier Division
Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) have announced that the Premier Division this year will again be contested between eight teams, including the Under-19 national team who will replace Police who have been disbanded..
As The Royal Gazette reported more than a week ago, Police had no intention of competing this season with the loss of several players, coupled with a planned redevelopment of Police Field.
At an executive meeting of the BCB committee on April 6, this decision, along with others of signficance, were taken relating to the upcoming season.
With Police folding, their players can now transfer for free, with those players that have previously paid for their transfers being given a refund.
Another change this season is the omission of Open Cricket due to the shortage of available weekends for cricket.
Reginald Pearman, president of the BCB said is a statement: "The Board are looking forward to a busy and exciting 2010 season of both international and domestic cricket. We would like to urge the field operators to produce quality surfaces to promote great cricket island wide."
He noted that the full cricket schedule would be published after further consultation with clubs regarding field availability and confirmation of home grounds.
