Vintage Leverock can't stop UAE loss

Dwayne Leverock produced another vintage display of spin bowling, albeit in a losing cause yesterday.

The veteran left arm orthodox spinner was introduced into his team's attack in the 11th over and along with all-rounder Janeiro Tucker restricted United Arab Emirates to just eight runs during the second power play to keep the pressure on.

Leverock had economical figures of one for 13 off ten overs which included five maidens. It is a display that he hopes he can build upon as Bermuda try to return to winning ways in today's match with Afghanistan.

"I was just trying to bowl from stump-to-stump and get some wickets," a modest Leverock said of his latest tidy spell with the ball.

"The ball wasn't really turning and so you had to pitch it in all the right areas.

"I tried to bring the batsmen forward on the front foot to keep them honest and then try and sneak a quicker one through"

At one stage Leverock tossed down four consecutive maidens with the UAE batsmen content to drop anchor and happily see Bermuda's trump card off the ball.

"They decided I was the trump card and decided to hang in there as best they could," he added.

"I was a bit disappointed I didn't get more wickets today because I did put the ball in some good areas and had a few unlucky lbw shouts."
