Wade-Fray's GB end summer with victory

Jeneya Wade-Fray's Great Britain were unable to finish the summer with a victory as they went down 70-66 in Ukraine yesterday.

Coach Tom Maher's side has already sealed the top spot in EuroBasket qualifying Group B, and a place in next summer's finals, and the GB coach was in reflective mood after the defeat:

"It was very disappointing, we could have won the game but we made too many bad decisions," he said. "Nevertheless we shouldn't detract from what the players have achieved this summer."

The women's team booked their place in the EuroBasket finals for the first time on Thursday with a 77-59 demolition of Germany at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Wade-Fray was called up by Great Britain earlier this year as they look to qualify for next year's Eurobasket Championships in Poland.

Her selection follows an outstanding season with the University of Tennessee team in Chattanooga, USA.

Wade-Fray will be pursuing a Masters Degree in sports exercise psychology at Sheffield Univeristy in Britain.

She is also looking to play professionally with the Sheffield Hatters while training with the 2012 British Olympic Basketball team.
