Chile booked their place in the semi-finals of the Women's Pan Am Cup last night with a hard-fought win over Jamaica.

First-half goals from Denis Infante and Daniela Caram were enough to see them squeeze past Dave Lemard's spirited side.

Jamaica might even have been able to pull off an upset if their luck, and composure in front of goal, had not deserted them at crucial moments.

Shana-Kay Tullonge was inches away from touching the ball into an open net in the first half when a vicious cross from Sharee Russell flew across the face of goal.

And Russell herself came close when her shot moments later flew inches wide. By that time however Chile were already two goals to the good.

Denise Infante put her side in front when she deflected a shot from Claudia Schuler past the excellent Fayona Mullings in Jamaica's goal.

And less than a minute later it was two, with Daniela Caram rounding Mullings to finish off a fine solo effort.

Jamaica wasted chances to get back into the game after the break. Skipper Nicole Grant was the biggest culprit, blowing two glorious chances to score immediately after the re-start.

Chile will now face tournament favourites Argentina in Saturday's semi-final.
