We had a Blast! But now it's all over

Our season has come to an end as the Baltimore Blast lost in the semi-finals against Monterrey Mexico in a best-of-three series.

Monterrey will now go on to play Milwaukee this Sunday in Milwaukee. We wish them both the best of luck but know there could be only one winner.

As for the season this year, well it was up and down. We had some injuries but not enough that was going to disrupt our game. We finished strongly but it was not enough to get us to the finals.

I thank all the players for a great season and hope heads stay high as we will look to be back next year to complete our task of winning another championship.

I want to take time to thank the staff, cheerleaders, fans and supporters (sponsors). We all know that this season was a long one but it has been noted that without your support and dedication it could have been a struggle.

Each year you come in and give your all and no matter what happens you are there to help pick us up, from the kind words of encouragement to the coaches, players and club. That has helped us be the dynasty that we have become. I will never forget your tears of enjoyment and those diehard looks on your face when supporting us at the games.

I can only hope that your love for the game spreads throughout the whole league, it would only help our league grow. So again on behalf of the coaches and players and the Baltimore Blast I say thank you.

What is next you may ask?

Well some of our players will be heading to play outdoors, some will be working on their personal business ventures and others will be staying in the area doing community work and clinics for the Blast.

I, for one, will be heading back to Bermuda to work with the ISL/Hope4Life programme and will be travelling with Cahmpion4Champions legends of sports doing appearances.

It was a long season for me with the Blast but it was worth the time.

I want to also thank the players for a job well done and wish them the best during the off-season.

In the next two weeks a committee will be selecting players from the MISL to come to Bermuda to play in the ISL/hope4life All-Star weekend which will be held from July 16 to the 19th. They will be selecting 15 players from the MISL teams to come and play against the ISL All-Stars.

We called it "Clash On the Rock" last year and the MISL players beat the ISL All-Stars 4-2. Now that we are moving into our fourth ISL season we feel that "Clash on the Rock 2" will be entertaining.

So as I leave this column I want to thank everyone for a job well done and look forward in seeing you next year with the Baltimore Blast.

Until next time!
