We should have won by more, says Windies' coach

West Indies High Performance coach Toby Radford said there was still plenty of room for improvement despite his side cruising to a convincing five wicket win over Bermuda yesterday.

Radford said he thought that his side should have bowled their opponents out for less than 100, and won by a larger margin than they eventually did.

However overall the Windies coach said he was happy with his side's performance and the way they were improving game by game.

"I think from today's game, it wasn't an easy wicket, but I actually think, although it was a low scoring game, we could have got them out for a few less than we did," said Radford.

'I think there were patches were we let the pressure off with the bowling, there were too many loose balls.

"I thought that when Holder came on it was fantastic, and he actually brought the best out of Johnson, the left armer, and there was that spell in the middle where we were bowled really well.

"But there were other times that we let the pressure off and although 130 doesn't sound like a huge amount, that wicket probably wasn't worth that much.

"I'll probably say to the guys in the team meeting 'yeah 130, but I think we could have done it for under 100', and that is about setting really, really high standards."

Like Bermuda, West Indies came into the game on the back of a one day defeat at the hands of Canada, and Radford was pleased with the way his side went about chasing down the winning target.

"I'm pleased with how we batted and I'm pleased that the guys have gone in and knocked it off," he said.

"We talked when we lost to Canada the other day about showing patience in these games.

"On wickets that are slow and low you've got to be patient, you can't just play the big shots that you would do on the flat wickets back in the Caribbean and for these guys this is a different type of mindset.

"There's that little bit of professional edge (still needed), where we probably should have won by seven or eight wickets, but the guys who got out would argue that they knew we had it in the bag. So overall I'm pretty happy."
