Why we aren't bothered by insults from Trinidad media

I'm still trying to decide which of Bermuda's national team players the Trinidadian press were referring to when they labelled us "pudgy" and "rotund"!

As coach Kenny Thompson pointed our earlier this week, we just have to use those jibes as a compliment and hopefully we will have the last laugh by tomorrow night.

To be honest we have tried not to pay too much attention to the cutting remarks made about us by their media – that's journalism for you and it's only usually one person's opinion anyway.

The players have had a bit of a laugh about it all and we've all been looking around the dressing room to see who is pudgy. I haven't worked it out yet and we won't get overly caught up in all that kind of stuff.

The squad checked into the Fairmont Hamilton Hotel earlier this week and we've been enjoying each other's company.

When we haven't been training, we've been sitting by the pool, cracking jokes with one another and generally trying to relax.

It's been a fun few days and some of us have known each other since we were kids so there's a real close bond within the camp.

Obviously I spend so much time in the US playing for New England Revolution it's been great to be back on the Island for a bit. I've used some of the time to see my family.

But it's down to the serious business now and we're totally focused on the task ahead – it's all about getting the right balance.

I don't know what Trinidad's strategy will be but they will have to come at us. My frame of mind is if I'm on my game it doesn't matter who I'm playing against, I just have to play to my potential and take it from there.

We're going to try and limit the mistakes just as we did in the first leg. If they score a goal from 25 yards out then fine, but we will stick to our game plan and close them down, give them nothing and make them work for everything.

We all very enthusiastic about tomorrow's match and we can sense that the whole country is behind us.

It's superb so many tickets have been sold and just a shame there will be quite a few fans that will miss out on what could be a special moment.

The crowd can have a major influence on the game, especially when you're tired and feel you can't give any more. They can really will you on and give you the adrenalin rush to push you that extra mile –- that gives you goose bumps.

This crucial match is exciting the country and it's a hard in a way to stay focused considering just what the game signifies. That's why the coaches are trying to keep us out of the public eye.

This is definitely a great time for Bermudian football but it will all be for nothing if we don't get past Trinidad.

See you at the Corner flag!
