Wolffe strike fires Hood further ahead
League `A' Division on Saturday as they edged MR Onions 1-0 thanks to a David Wolffe strike.
Hood were able to increase their margin due to the defeat suffered by Lobster Pot who crashed 5-1 to Tuff Dogs, sending them tumbling from second to third place.
Two goals from Carlos Lopes and one apiece from Carlos Moniz, Joe Carola and Alex DeCouto spearheaded Dogs, who moved up a place to fourth. Pot, who had Brian Ward sent off, netted their consolation goal through Jim McLaren.
North Village Rams are the new holders of second spot, courtesy of a exciting 4-3 triumph over lowly Devonshire Colts All-Stars.
The lone remaining `A' contest witnessed BAA Wanderers dismantle PHC Raiders 7-0, with Dave Lawler notching a hat-trick. Arthur Reilly, Paul Nicholson, Norman Bradford and Thomas Gibbon each scored once.
In Division `B', Key West Rangers continued their charge towards the title -- and promotion -- with a comfortable 7-2 victory over Dockyard Falcons.
Steve Bean scored two penalties for Rangers, with Earl Richardson, Joey Weeks and Sergio Griffin also contributing scores. David Tear and John Perreira tallied for Falcons.
Exiles, meanwhile, remain good bets for the second promotion spot after a 3-2 victory over Devonshire Lions.
Martin Siese, with a 25-yard scorcher, along with Allan Johnson and Ian McLeod netted for the winners.
At the west end, Somerset Extros emerged on top after an 11-goal thriller against Valley as they won 6-5.
Wolves Pack downed Bermuda Pest Control 2-1 with Troy Bean and Casey Burgess scoring for Wolves and Anthony Francis replying for Pest Control.
The Bermuda Regiment Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess overcame a spirited challenge from the Officers' Mess to win their annual football match 5-3 at the weekend.
Officers went ahead through goals by Todd and Lauren Smith, but Myron Smith and Roderick Spencer brought the Sergeants' Mess back into the match.
Quinton Francis then put the game beyond the Officers, netting a second-half hat-trick.
