World Cup hopes fade
Dwayne Pearman and Scott Roy face an uphill battle if they are to qualify for the Omega Mission Hills World Cup.
The Bermuda pair struggled in the second round of yesterday's South America qualifier in Venezuela, shooting a three-over par 74 to slip to one-over for the tournament.
Going into yesterday's round on the back of eight birdies in a two-under 69 in the first round, the pair got off to the worst possible start when they took a triple-bogey seven at the par-four fourth.
Pearman and Scott had trouble adapting to the alternate-shot foursomes format and although they picked up shots at holes five, nine and 18, they also dropped them at seven, 11 and 15.
With only the top three progressing to the World Cup in China, the Bermuda team are 12 shots off third place and will have to cut out the errors that have proved so costly if they are to have any hope of making the cut. The tournament returns to best-ball format today, with the final round tomorrow another alternate-shot foursomes.
