Aitken misses out on medal

Kiera Aitken swam her third fastest ever time in the 100 metres backstroke in the CAC Games but was still not able to land a medal for Bermuda.

She narrowly missed out on a bronze, finishing fourth on Wednesday night in Puerto Rico in a time of one minute 3.35 seconds.

Roy Allan Burch then placed seventh in the 50m freestyle final in 23.56 seconds. Head coach Ben Smith said: "It certainly was a great time that Kiera is extremely happy with and we are certainly very proud of her."

Nick Thomson set a new under-18 national record in the 50m butterfly with a time of 26.47 seconds yesterday, but missed out on making the finals along with Allan Burch.

Today will see Julian Fletcher, Lisa Blackburn, Aitken and Rebecca Sharpe compete on the final day of the swimming event.
