Bascome, Smith triumphant
Jenson Bascome and Tyler Smith won the Argus Open men's and ladies' singles titles at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium on Saturday.
With some of the Island's top tennis players competing at the CAC Games in Puerto Rico, it was Bascome and Smith who stepped up to take advantage.
Bascome, who also won the men's doubles with Romar Douglas, defeated Julien Pinot 6-3, 6-3 to lift the singles crown.
Bascome and Douglas' doubles title win was over David Jenkins and Roger Marshall, 6-3,6-3.
Smith claimed victory over Cayla Cross, 7-6 (10), 6-3.
Earl Leader took the senior men's singles title over John Johnston 6-1,6-3 to go along with the senior's men's doubles title with brother Erwin. They beat Dennis Harris and Larry Samuels, 6-0, 6-2.
Janet Grainger and Jane Pringle cruised to victory in the ladies' open doubles final, beating Rhonda Caza and Sarah Cook 6-0, 6-0, while Pringle also teamed up with James Collieson to win the mixed doubles final over Douglas and Morgan Lightbourne, 6-3, 6-3.
