Bean boys help Rams hammer Hot Peppers
Hamilton Parish 0
North Village Rams 5
It was the Bean show at Wellington Oval yesterday as Keishen and skipper Ralph Bean both netted braces as North Village jumped two places in the table with a thrashing of Hamilton Parish.
Substitute Gregory Johnson scored North Village's other goal.
The result was just the tonic the Rams needed as they look to make up ground they lost so early in their quest to retain the league trophy.
It took all of 17 minutes for the scoring to begin, with Ralph Bean stroking home a Martin Godley flick-on from a free kick deep inside the Peppers half.
Rams then laid siege to the Parish goal, and had it not been for goalkeeper Nigel Burgess, the gane would have been over as a contest by half time.
As it was several crucial saves meant Parish were only 1-0 down at the break.
All Burgess' good work was undone however in an 18-minute spell in the second half when the hosts seemed to shut off and conceded four goals.
Keishen Bean lobbed Burgess after some fine work by Shayne Hollis releasing the speed merchant to make it 2-0 in the 62nd minute, and then eight minutes later grabbed his second after Burgess could only push Hollis' shot into his path.
Johnson then got in on the act in the 75th when he coolly slotted past Burgess after ghosting across two defenders.
Ralph Bean wrapped up the hammering when he headed home a Jemeiko Jennings free kick after striker Vincent Minors was bought down just outside of the area.
The win moves the Rams into fourth place, six points off the leaders Boulevard.
"We needed this victory and it was good to win the match how we did, in convincing fashion," said Ralph Bean.
"It's good how it went, we got the three points and that's what matters right now.
"I believe we have jumped two places with this result, so it feels good to beat a team that is above you in the table.
"When you find yourself dominating a match and don't score, it is usually due to a lack of quality on the part of the team who is dominating.
"Up 1-0 at the half, we know we needed to pick up our quality in front of goal and that's what we did. We don't have any expectations right now as far as were we want to be going into the Christmas break.
"We just need to keep our determination and hopefully get into the holiday tournament.
"It will take some work on our part, but if we continue to work hard then we should get what we deserve."
