BFA set up Children's League
Bermuda Football Association (BFA) have set up a new Children's League and Youth League as part of their long-term vision to develop the Island's young players.
The Children's League will have under-eight, under-ten and under-12 divisions and will be non-competitive in the sense there will be no league standings and points system.
Each team will be able to name a squad of 14 players and matches will consist of three periods of 20 minutes.
Sponsored by Appleby, the Youth League will comprise under-14 and under-16 teams and will feature a competitive knockout cup compeition with team rosters of 20 players.
Both leagues will start in January with the registration deadline of Friday, October 30 at 5 p.m. All teams must have a D licence designated coach.
BFA president Richard Calderon said: "We believe that the setting up of the Children's and Youth leagues speaks volumes to the commitment to the development of youth football in Bermuda.
"We are humbled and grateful to our strategic partners who have provided assistance in various forms, financial and in kind, to our youth programmes, the league being one."
Technical director Derek Broadley said: "It's our wish to see as many young football players participate in the leagues this season. We are promoting the participation and enjoyment of football among youth players, fans and clubs.
"The BFA will continue to professionalise the coaching environment where coaches can confirm and demonstrate appropriate coaching methods that support youth footballers' development opportunities, in our efforts to enhance the quality of the game in Bermuda."
Teams will be assessed for the various leagues on consecutive Saturdays on November 7, 14 and 21 at BFA Field.
