Veteran all-rounder Wendell White shone with bat and ball to guide Bailey's Bay to a three-wicket win over Eastern Counties rivals Cleveland at Sea Breeze Oval on Saturday.

The former senior national team and Somerset cricketer claimed five for 31 to help restrict Cleveland below the double century mark and then blasted 39 in a 73 -run fourth-wicket stand that kept Bay firmly on course for victory which was eventually achieved with 85 balls to spare.

Opener Dennico Hollis top scored for Bay, thumping 51 at the top of the order while national team skipper Irving Romaine (36) and the returning Jermaine Outerbridge (23 not out) also managed promising starts.

Acting County skipper Dennis Mussen jr was the pick of his team's bowling with figures of three for 35.

Cleveland won the toss and elected to bat but soon found themselves reeling at 95 for six despite solid knocks from top order bats Courtney Trott (30) and Stephen Douglas jr. (26 not out).

But the home team's tail wagged with number ten bat Charles Richardson (40) and skipper Mussen (36) adding 51 runs for the ninth wicket to revive Cleveland's innings and give them a more respectable total to defend.

Bay off spinner Rodney Trott also bolwed superbly, seizing two for 32 off a handful of overs.
