Coaching challenge leaves me excited

This Premier Division season could be one of the most intriguing campaigns we've seen for quite some time.

Apart from Scott Morton and Devarr Boyles who are working for the Bermuda Football Association, I believe the collection of coaches working in the top-flight is as strong as I can remember.

And that excites me greatly, as it's always fun to watch a team that you have shaped and moulded take on that of another coach's.

It's often said in football that a good player doesn't always make a good coach, well, I'm out to prove that particular cliché wrong.

I'm confident in my ability and the knowledge I have aquired during my professional career, but the only way I can prove to the Bermuda public that I can coach is by having my team play a certain way and by winning.

North Village may have lost one or two senior players in the summer but I'm very happy with squad I have to work with.

It's a very young squad and I think we had about five or six players making their debut in our opening day win over Devonshire Colts.

I've always felt it's important to give youth a chance and we have a number of promising players who I believe are ready for the Village first team.

One such player is our striker Jason Lee who joined us from Bascome FC and scored his first Village goal last Sunday.

Another is Logan Alexander who has come through the Village ranks and recently returned from school overseas.

He's the sort of player who always comes to training and always delivers whatever it is you're asking from him.

Having said that I wouldn't say the younger players have been any easier to work with than our older guys.

Even those players in their 30s have been very receptive to new information and shown a real appetite to learn and that's all you can really ask for.

Up next for us a tough game against Devonshire Cougars at the Rec. tomorrow night.

I don't like the idea of Cougars resembling a wounded animal, but I'm know they'll be desperate to bounce back after their defeat against Kenny Thompson's Somerset Eagles.

Cougars are the defending champions for a reason and we will have to be at our very best to pick up the result we're looking for.
