Southampton Rangers notched their first win of the season over lowly Devonshire Colts at Southampton Oval in the battle of winless teams.

Strikes from Thomas Brown and Jermaine Dil secured the points for the hosts in the second match of a double header, although the second game was far duller than that of the first between PHC and Somerset Trojans.

The game seemed to be a battle between two teams fighting to stay in the top-flight as neither side could muster up a real goalscoring chance in the opening 15 minutes.

It took until midway through the first half to find any real talking point, and talk it was as Thomas Brown let fly a bullet that flew into the Colts goal from 30 yards out to render Jason Wade helpless in between the sticks.

Rangers were the better side throughout the match, although Colts had a way back into the match through Bayon Robinson, only for the lanky striker to put his chance wide of the post.

Dill doubled the Rangers lead and made the points safe in the 60th minute after a corner wasn't fully cleared by the visitors.

Dill was on hand at the back post after an initial shot hit the post and fell kindly to Dill who made no mistake from point blank range to make the points safe.
