Cougars claim victory in cup final classic
Lady Cougars 5
Dandy Stars 4
A Donte Allen brace cancelled out Shuntae Todd's hat-trick as Lady Cougars completed a League and Cup double, running out 5-4 winners over Dandy Stars in extra time in the Women's FA Cup final.
Allen got her side's first and last goals to seal the victory with both strikes coming from the penalty spot.
Alana Burchall put Stars ahead 1-0 before Todd doubled the lead with her first from a set piece.
Allen pulled a goal back for the Lady Cougars when she converted her first chance from the penalty spot, but Todd restored her side's two-goal cushion when she spotted goalkeeper Sharifa Crockwell off her line and made no mistake with her effort from around 40 yards out.
Tamisha Darrell pulled Lady Cougars back within a goal early in the second half and moments later Cheyra Bell levelled matters, forcing extra time.
With no goals in the first half of extra time, and seemingly none coming in the second half, penalties looked on the cards.
That was until Cleshuanay Virgil put Lady Cougars ahead for the first time in the match midway through the second extra time period.
Todd then stepped yet again to the forefront for her side when she scored a diving header to complete her hat-trick, equalising for Stars.
However, there was one more twist in the match when Allen was bundled over in the box and she dually stroked her effort home to seal a memorable for Lady Cougars.
