Sammy DeGraff came to the rescue for North Village with a dramatic injury-time winner to edge past a bellicose Boulevard at Devonshire Rec. last night.

Village had conceded two goals in as many minutes late in the game only for DeGraff to save their blushes with a neat finish following a well-worked move between Logan Alexander and Ralf Bean.

It looked as though Village had the match sewn up with just ten minutes remaining before Blazers hit back in quick succession through substitutes Keimo Bean and Angelo Simmons.

But Village showed admirable character to find the winner through the impressive DeGraff to secure their safe passage to the next round of the Dudley Eve competition.

DeGraff gave Village an early lead before talisman Bean doubled their advantage midway through the second-half.

Village coach Shaun Goater praised his players for their fighting spirit. "Two minutes is a long time in football as we saw tonight," he said. "Ralph Bean was a real leader for us tonight and kept pushing forward even when we were holding on.

"We showed good persistence and I'm delighted with the win. Boulevard pushed and pushed and are a very organised team with some ability."

Devonshire Cougars 1 –Dandy Town 0

LeJaine Simmons' first half cracker was enough to give Cougars a winning start to their Dudley Eve campaign over ten-man Dandy Town.

Simmons took full advantage of Town's failure to clear their lines from an 18th minute free kick, and the youngster's 18-yard strike left Town goalkeeper Mikkal Crockwell with no chance.

Cougars really should have won by a greater margain, but having put his side in front, Simmons then wasted a hat-ful of chances after he had scored.

For their part Hornets were largely ineffective upfront, with Jahmel Swan proving their greatest threat, but they struggled against a strong Cougars defence and the loss of George Dyer for dissent early in the second half hurt them still further.
