Double gold glory for Motyer

Bermuda rower Brian Motyer claimed two gold medals at the 37th annual FISA World Rowing Masters Regatta, held in St Catherines, Canada, earlier this month.

The 46-year-old, now based in Florida, twice finished first as part of a men's doubles and a men's 4X race.

Despite his medal victories Motyer, a former pupil at Ridley School, in St. Catherine, Canada, said he was disappointed he didn't complete a trio of gold medal wins.

"It was bittersweet. Call it greed, but I would have liked to have got a third medal," said Motyer. "I didn't do well in my singles race and came fourth.

"I didn't row like I should have but that fuelled the fire for my other races."

Motyer said the windy weather conditions made rowing tough for all competitors.

"The weather conditions were very bad, there were 20 miles per hour winds which is very strong."
