Encouraging turn-out for BASA coaching clinics

More than 100 swimmers attended Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association (BASA)'s recent coaching clinics.

They were conducted by three professional Master Officials, Glennis Mossey, Lyse Tremblay and Cynthia Pincott. All three are Level Five officials with Swimming/Natation Canada (SNC).

Tremblay is also a Master Open Water Official, Pincott an expert Masters (mature swimmers) and SWAD (swimmer with a disability/para-swimmer) official, while Glennis is a SWAD expert official and also the chairperson for Swim Alberta.

Ben Smith, Bermuda's national coach, said, "A total of 23 clinics were presented with a total participation of over 100 people with some people participating in multiple clinics.

"The participants included physical education teachers, Sandys 360 coaches as well as a representative from WindReach.

"All three officials mentored the clinic participants at the three sessions of the Mailboxes Unlimited Winter Age Group Championships."

Alice Mastalir, a BASA representative said: "This was also a real team building opportunity as it got all the regular BASA groups together and enabled the start of new relationships with other partners."

It was the second time BASA has had SNC officials come to deliver clinics and help with the development of BASA's officiating standards.
