Bermuda's up and coming swimmers from the Harbour Amateur Swimming Club managed to record an astonishing 89 personal bests in 96 individual events at the Jack McCormick Invitational meet held on the campus of McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, over the weekend.

Fourteen swimmers representing the Harbour club made the trip and for several, this was their first exposure to the 50-metre long course pool.

Competing as an eight-year-old in the 10 years and under age group, Emma Harvey secured a third place in the 200 metres individual medley and a fourth place in the 50 metres butterfly. Of particular note was that all seven of her swims resulted in new eight and under age group records.

The next youngest team member was nine-year-old Alex Pilgrim who recorded a first place finish in the 50 metres backstroke and a third-place finish in the 200 metres individual medley.

The next age group represented was the 11-year-olds.

Among the girls, Vanessa Esposito came away with the top performances for the club with a pair of first-place finishes in the 400 metres freestyle and the 50 metres backstroke, and a second place in the 50 metres butterfly, while Shannon Hassell captured third place in the 50 metres breaststroke.

Charlie Pilgrim had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 metres butterfly and the 50 metres backstroke while Tyler Smith recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 and 200 metres backstroke events. However, it was his fine performance in the 800 metres freestyle which established an age group record.

Anna Harrington, competing in the 12-year-old girls category, took second place in the 50 metres breaststroke and Riley Voth, in the 13-year-old boys age division, managed a third place finish in the 50 metres backstroke.

In the 14-year-old girls, Molly Pilgrim took second place finishes in the 200 metres individual medley and the 50 and 100 metres freestyle, while Annabella Doyle finished third in the 200 metres individual medley and the 50 metres breaststroke.

Jordan Rowse, competing as a 14-year-old boy, took third place in the 200 metres individual medley.

Rounding out the remaining members of the team were Rachael Voth , Dejan Wellman and Denzel Wellman in the senior, 15 years and above age group.

The meet was attended by almost 500 swimmers representing 13 teams from Ontario.
