Hood looking to continue role as cup giant-killers

Giant-killers Robin Hood will look to continue their run in the FA Cup when they face top flight team Devonshire Colts at Police Field on Sunday.

The Commercial League side, who have knocked out St. George's All-Stars and St. David's along the way, will be looking to continue Colts' misery with the Premier Division outfit still winless in all competitions so far in the season.

Hood midfielder Teddy Terceira is urging his team-mates to issue a statement of intent to the rest of the Commercial League by securing another big name scalp.

"We beat St. George's All-Stars and then St. David's, so we're looking to make an impression in this match against bigger opposition," said Terceira.

"We have confidence from the St. David's match so we won't take anything for granted, but at the same time we won't be going there to make the numbers up.

"The key will be tightness at the back and moving the ball around quickly.

"We're training as usual in that we're still doing our indoor sessions and light training on Thursday.

"The coach wants us to have a good time and enjoy the week, it's FA Cup day."

The Hood, who are still in contention for both the Commercial League title and Commercial Cup, will be huge underdogs in Sunday's clash and have never met Colts previously.

One hindrance to Paul Scope's side in the build-up to the match will be the uncertainty of goalkeeper Jason Simons who is carrying an injury.

"We're missing our keeper, who is 50/50 at this moment and he has been huge for us in big games as he has stepped up for us many times," said Terceira.

"I can't say that I have seen them (Colts) but our coach has seen them play and given us a rundown on their side.

"And even though they're bottom of the table they're a side with quality and we will try to play our game and even look at a win or get a replay.

"Certainly at Christmas we were happy with our position and we haven't played to our full potential just yet in the season.

"We have MR Onions in the Commercial Cup, and drawn our last two matches in the league.

"Our form isn't the best currently, but we can still be competitive and look to progress as far as we can in everything we are still in contention for."
