Hot shot Nahki completes season in style

Dandy Town's crown jewel Nahki Wells capped off a remarkable season with a brace in their title clinching match against PHC, taking his tally to 20 goals for the campaign.

The Bermuda international has emerged as one of the leading players on the Island this term and believes Hornets' blend of youth and experience was the secret behind their championship success.

"This season has had its fair share of ups and downs, although at the end we have emerged as champions," said Wells, who will almost certainly be named in Bermuda Hogges squad for the upcoming PDL season.

"When you look at the team we had, mixed with youth and experience, we had all the ingredients but started off on the wrong foot at the beginning of the season.

"We came together as a team just before Christmas when we were in the position we were in, second from the bottom, at rallied to move to the top.

"After the Village game we knew we were still in it and had to work until the end and that's what happened.

"Hard work breeds champions."

The teenager, who only played half of last season because of overseas studies, is now the firm favourite to lift the Premier Division MVP and now seems to be the future of not only Hornets, but also Bermuda football.

"I am honoured to be the front runner for the Premier Division MVP, although my team has helped me get the recognition I have got," he said.

"Last year I only played from January onwards, and to now be the leading scorer and supposedly the leading player for the award is great.

"I thank those who have voted for me, but individual honours are secondary to the team success.
