Island's volleyball girls win again in Worlds qualifier
Bermuda's national women's volleyball team continued their amazing run in the early qualifying stages for 2010 World Championships in Trinidad yesterday.
The Island team crushed Suriname 3-0 at the UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre in their first match in Group B of the second round of the regional qualifiers and can win that group with victory over Netherland Antilles tomorrow.
Group A is being contested by Aruba, US Virgin Islands and Trinidad.
The eventual top three in second round competition will advance to the third qualifying round where they will face the likes of Cuba, USA and Dominican Republic, ranked among the top teams in the world.
Last month Bermuda cruised through the opening round, thumping Anguilla, St.Kitts and Nevis and Dominica, all by a score of 3-0.
The World Championship finals will be contested in Japan next year.
Before then Bermuda's team will also fly the Island's flag at the Island Games in Aland in the Baltic Sea later this month.
