Jennings calm before his first season in charge
Southampton Rangers head coach Keith Jennings insists there is no extra pressure on him as he enters his first full season in his new role at the Horseshoe Bay club.
The ex-Bermuda international, who guided Rangers to the Friendship Trophy final last season, recently penned a two-year contract with the Premier Division side who he joined on a late transfer from his boyhood club, North Village, at the start of last season.
Jennings initially took over the reigns towards the end of last term replacing Albert Smith when he was unable to perform his duties due to personal reasons, and led them to safety, finishing seventh in the league table.
However, a freak injury, which resulted in Jennings having a kidney removed, brought a premature end to his playing days with the mercurial midfielder now focusing on forging a career in coaching.
"There isn't any pressure on me now, I felt more pressure last year when I took over," said Jennings.
"Being as I helped out during the second half of last season as coach I'm comfortable with the position I'm in.
"This season I will be a little nervous but I'm going to concentrate on the game and see how we make out this year.
"We have the numbers out and everyone is putting in the hard work and that's what we expect from them right now."
Jennings now wants his team to build upon their impressive 2009-10 campaign.
Losing skipper and talisman Kamen Tucker to Dandy Town has served as a blow, admitted Jennings, who is hoping the void can be filled by those defenders still at the club.
"Obviously we want to stay up, that's the main objective and then look to finish higher then we did last term," he said.
"We've lost some players but I feel we still have a good enough team to compete and make a better run than we did last season and even win a trophy this time around.
"Anything that's better then last season will be determined as a successful season.
"We've lost some good players who were crucial to us, but the guys we've got and are still here can hopefully fill in and do a good job.
"We aren't looking to make someone into another player but as long as they can come in and get the job done, then I will be happy."
Rangers first Premier Division match of the new season will see them take on much-fancied Devonshire Cougars at Southampton Oval on Sunday, October 3.
