Lambe faces West Ham stars

Reggie Lambe found himself up against England World Cup flops Robert Green and Matthew Upson during Ipswich Town's pre-season friendly against West Ham at the weekend.

Lambe, 19, came on as a second half substitute in Ipswich's 1-0 defeat at Portman Road, replacing Trinidad international Carlos Edwards after 72 minutes.

England keeper Green was serenaded with chants of 'USA, USA, USA' from the Ipswich supporters in reference to his blooper which cost England a win over the Americans at the recent World Cup in South Africa.

Carlton Cole, also an England national team player, was on target for the Hammers.

Bermuda international, Lambe, also played 63 minutes in Ipswich's 1-0 win at Bury last week.

Ipswich boss Roy Keane has vowed to give his younger players a chance to impress during the coming Championship season. "We all like experience, but give these boys an opportunity. Lambe, Luke Hyam, Troy Brown, Jack Ainsley, these boys have a chance and sometimes you have to throw them in there," he said.
