Lambe hits target in final game
Reggie Lambe signed off his season in style this week by scoring in Ipswich Town reserves' 3-0 win at Northampton Town.
The 19-year-old, who is sweating on whether he will be handed a new deal, bundled home Town's opener after good work by Shane O'Connor.
Striker Billy Clark added a second from the penalty spot and a third when he followed up Lambe's initial shot.
Town finished second in the Totesport.com Football Combination East Division behind Watford with Lambe bagging eight goals during the campaign, including a hat-trick against Stevenage Borough.
Roy Keane, the Ipswich coach, has already started holding talks with those players whose current contracts expire at the end of the season.
Defender David Wright became the first player to be released yesterday after failing to earn a new deal at Portman Road.
Several other Town players are out of contract in the summer and the likes of Richard Wright, Shane O'Connor, Pim Balkestein, Ed Upson, Jack Ainsley, Liam Trotter, Troy Brown, Devann Yao, Ian McLoughlin and Lambe could all be shown the exit door by Keane as he looks to rebuild and mount a serious promotion charge next term.
Lambe made his first team debut for Town in a Carling Cup tie at Shrewsbury back in August.
n Bermuda international Khano Smith's New England Revolution will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on FC Dallas at home tomorrow.
Revolution have lost their last two matches and will be without star midfielder Shalrie Joseph who has been granted a leave of absence to attend to personal matters.
