Match off over pitch fears

Yesterday's Premier Division clash between PHC and Police at White Hill Field was abandoned due to a hazardous pitch, writes Colin Thompson.
Shortly after PHC opening batsman Fiqre Crockwell was struck in the face grill by a Nigel Gittens delivery, that stood up from a good length, umpire Oscar Andrade and the two opposing captains decided best to call it a day after only 12 overs of play with the home team on –47 for two.
Both teams had considered abandoning proceedings as early as the sixth over after the ball started "jumping all over the place" but continued until national team batsman Crockwell was struck in the helmet.
