Paralympic Association receive donation
The Bermuda Paralympic Association (BPARAS) will receive a donation tomorrow from the staff and partners at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) that will aid costs incurred by the Association.
The money, which was raised through the firm's staff donation programme and matched by the partners of the firm, will be put towards outstanding costs by the BPARAS on their trip to the 13th Paralympic Games in Beijing last year.
The Association were able to send on equestrian and three future paralympian representatives to the Games in September of last year, with the spectacle being the highest standard for athletes with physical disabilities.
"For youth with physical challenges, participation in sport goes far beyond the field of play," said Paul Sullivan, president of BPARAS. One of the goals of the Association is to introduce Bermudian athletes to the opportunities and lifetime benefits of competitive sport.
"With proper coaching and development, the abilities of these athletes will be the focus of their personal identity as they become role models for all Bermudians."
Member of the BPARAS will enjoy a lunch at PWC on February 26th and members of the Staff Donation Programme, along with Peter Mitchell, senior partner of PWC Bermuda, will make the donation to them at that time.
Mitchell saidd; "I am pleased to be able to present this gift on behalf of members of staff and partners of PWC to the Bermuda Paralympic Association.
"One cannot fail to be inspired by the strength of spirit and accomplishments of these young people, and we are delighted to have been able to contribute to their Beijing trip."
