Contrary to a report in last Thursday's Royal Gazette, noting that runner Lamont Marshall was only the second Bermudian to dip under 31 minutes in the 10K, behind Kavin Smith, it has since been pointed out that former May 24 champion Kevin Pearson was the first local runner to achieve the same feat.
According to Ted Pearson, his son clocked 30 minutes, 32 seconds as a junior in 1983 and that is believed to be still a junior record for a Bermudian.
Marshall ran 30 minutes 49.92 seconds at the Penn Relays in the UK last weekend.
Smith recorded 30:45 in the UK in 1995.
