Pool player Bascome shines in Vegas event
Gary Bascome finished a commendable fourth in the Senior Division of the Valley National Eight Ball Association's (VNEA) Pool Tournament held in Las Vegas last week, the biggest worldwide international event with over 3,000 players participating.
Bascome was one of many players selected to enter the tournament by the Bermuda International Pool League, with the association entering a team of players in both the eight- and nine-ball competition as well as three teams in the team events.
The achievement by the veteran, who has been attending the VNEA tournament for 23 years, marked the first time Bermuda had received a trophy in the spectacle.
Along with the fourth place in the senior division nine-ball division where he outduelled 64 players, he also came eighth in the eight-ball tournament, beating out 300 players in this event.
