Race ace Wilson crashes out
Bermuda's young motorcycling sensation Toriano Wison suffered a slight setback when he crashed out of the Red Bull AMA US Rookies Cup race at the Infineon Raceway in San Francisco on Sunday.
An early two-rider battle for the lead saw Argentina's Leandro Mercado and Kentucky's Hayden Gillim set the pace. But this was short-lived as eventual winner Benny Solis jr and Wilson quickly reeled them in to complete a four-rider pack.
However, on lap four Wilson crashed after running wide, leaving the other three riders to battle for victory in what was shaping up to be a late shoot-out .
But when Mercado and Gillim collided on the seventh lap, the 13-year-old Solis took victory in a race that was stopped after nine laps after another crash.
Solis also won last month's race at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama and leads the points chase with a perfect score of 50. The next Red Bull AMA US Rookies Cup race takes place on June 8.
