Southampton Rangers 145 St.David's 105-1

Match abandoned after 31 overs in the second innings. St.David's won on run rate

St.David's picked up three precious points at Lords on Saturday after defeating fellow Premier Division league title contenders Southampton Rangers on run rate.

Chasing 146 for victory, the Islanders were well ahead of the asking run rate with Sammy Robinson (40) and McLaren Lowe (25) unbeaten at the crease when late afternoon showers halted proceedings prematurely.

Opener Chris Douglas (20) also managed double figures before he was run out, giving Rangers their only moment of joy in the field.

Earlier, all-rounder Justin Pitcher sliced through the visitor's top order on the way to superb figures of four for 34 while new ball partner Angelo Cannonier (two for 24) also held his end of the bargain.

Rangers were in all sorts of trouble at 33 for six after 13 overs but stubborn resistance lower down the order from former Islander cricketer Shannon Rayner (54) and Stefan Dill (15 not out) saw them recover somewhat to post a total that was always going to be difficult to defend on a spacious Lords pitch.

Police 101-9 –Cleveland County 17-3

Match abandoned after 11 overs in the second innings, each team awarded a point

Medium pacers Shakai Darrell and Charles Richardson claimed eight-wickets between them but it still wasn't enough to gaurantee visiting Cleveland County maximum points over nine-men Police at Police Field as late afternoon showers sent opposing teams scampering off for good.

Cleveland were wobbling at 17-3 when play was halted in reply to Police's paltry total.

Jamaican-born left-arm quick Traddie Simpson (three for five) claimed all three Cleveland wickets to tumble.

Earlier, Richardson (three for 27) and Darrell (five for 26) ripped the heart out of Police's top and middle order to contain the home team's potentially explosive order.

Former national team batsman James Celestine (33) skipper Vince Bradshaw (17) and Garvin Aparicio (14) were the only Police bats in double figures.

Bailey's Bay 287 –Somerset CC 64-2

Match abandoned after ten overs in the second innings, each team awarded a point

Hosts Somerset and visiting Bailey's Bay had to settle for a share of the spoils after this match at Somerset Cricket Club fell prey to heavy late afternoon showers.

Somerset were 64-2 in reply to Bay's formidable 287 with Jekon Edness (six) and former Bay player Jermaine Warner (33) unbeaten in the middle when play was halted for good at 4.59 p.m..

Earlier, Bay got solid support from their top order batsmen who all feasted on a wayward Somerset attack that gave up 28 runs in extras.

National team batsman Stephen Outerbridge led the way with a ruthless 79 off 61 balls, Under-19 national team skipper Terryn Fray gathered 51 from 92 deliveries, Rodney Trott 41 and Cal Dill 40.

Trott and Outerbridge featured in a 122 run third- wicket stand that provided the cornerstone for Bay's innings.

Somerset groundsman and part-time bowler, Reid Jones, led the hosts' attack with figures of three for 45, Trinidadian Raul Khan had three for 61 and teenaged spinner Joshua Gilbert two for 23.

PHC 233-9

YMSC 100-3

Match abandoned after 17 overs in the second innings, each team awarded a point

Kamau Leverock hit a polished half-century in vain as heavy showers put paid to this Premier Division match at White Hill Field.

Teenager Leverock has come into his own with the bat this season and last Saturday saw him continue in the same vein with a top knock of 68 that took the sting out of Social Club's attack.

Also getting in among the run feast was middle order bat Dean Stephens (45) who added 85 runs for the fifth-wicket with young Leverock after PHC had slipped to 83 for four.

Medium pacers Detroy Smith (two for 60) and Charlie Marshall (two for 48) were the pick of the Social Club bowling.

David Lovell jr (45) and former national team pacer Kevin Hurdle (17) led the Social Club resistance before the heavens opened up.
