Raynor's excited by meeting with Bay
Southampton Rangers batsman Andrew Raynor is expecting a thrilling game tomorrow at Southampton Oval when Rangers –welcome league leaders Bailey's Bay into town in a battle of the top two sides in the Premier Division.
Bay currently hold down the top spot over Rangers, having played one game than their –opponents, although both are undefeated and hit –champions St. David's with their second loss of the season last weekend.
Rangers will put their undefeated record on the line against PHC at White Hill Field before locking horns with Bay.
Raynor, who was the driving force behind his sides win over Devonshire on Sunday, believes the stage is set for a hugely contested match between the two best sides in Bermuda currently.
"The main focus is to beat them, obviously we are both undefeated and want to continue the winning ways, so we want to go out there and make a statement," said Raynor.
"It is a big game because the winner will be on top clear on points.
"I think we will be beat them, but it will be an –exciting match."
Raynor pointed to the depth in the Rangers squad to their early season success.
Whether it is talismans Janeiro Tucker and Dwayne Leverock carrying the burden, or Dion Stovell, the younger players or himself, the left-handed batsman is confident that his side can produce the goods on any weekend against any team.
"We have a deep team and are confident in the team itself and whoever is out there on pitch.
"We have always been deep throughout, whether it is Janeiro and Dion who produce one week, and then myself and Shannon (Rayner) or Stephan (Dill) and Sluggo, we all have the ability and belief in one another to get the job done."
Bay opener Dennico –Hollis commented on the clash earlier in the week, stating: "Rangers is –another big game and hopefully we can dominate them from start to finish.
"But cricket is a funny game so we will take it step by step and see how this game goes."
Today's Premier –Division matches will see PHC and Ranger clash at White Hill Field, while –Devonshire Rec. host –Somerset at Devonshire Rec. and Willow Cuts play St. David's at Somerset Cricket Club.
Sunday's matches will see Somerset host St. David's at Somerset –Cricket Club, Devonshire take on Cuts at Devonshire Rec., as well as Rangers playing Bay.
Today's First Division action sees Flatts play Cleveland County at St. David's, St. George's –locking horns with –Western Stars at –Wellington Oval, and –Warwick playing Young Men's Social Club at St. John's Field.
Sunday will feature Stars hosting Flatts at St. John's Field, Somerset Bridge clashing with –Warwick at White Hill Field, and St. George's playing Young Men's –Social Club at Wellington Oval.
