Ray's the hero as PHC knock out holders
Raymond Glasford's goalkeeping heroics helped send Dandy Town tumbling out of the Dudley Eve last night.
The PHC goalkeeper was in inspired form, stopping everything the cup holders could throw at him.
And not even a controversial penalty, and the equally controversial sending off of PHC boss Kyle Lightbourne could put a dampner on the night when Town's season went from bad to worse.
The night didn't start well for the St John's side who found themselves behind after just six minutes to a contender for goal of the season.
PHC defender Blenn Bean rifled a shot from the left hand edge of the Town area that moved so fast, Mikkail Crockwell never even had a chance to think about saving it.
Even so, they might have been level almost immediately, but Glasford produced the first of many flying saves to claw away a Heys Wolfe shot.
After that though the first half fizzled out, as both teams struggled with their passing.
It was something of a surprise then when Jahni Raynor grabbed a second for PHC moments before half time.
The game turned five minutes after the break when referee Alton Reid adjudged that Shae-Tai Smith had brought down Town striker Nahki Wells just inside the box.
Jared Peniston saw his initial spot kick well blocked by Glasford, who also stopped the re-bound, only to be given a second chance for an infringement only the officials saw.
Peniston made no mistake second time around, and the nerves started to get to PHC as Town laid seige to the goal.
Glasford though was more than a match for the holders, and kept his side in the game on several occasions.
Eventually the tension got too much for Lightbourne, who was sent off for kicking a ball away as Town went to take a quick throw in.
As the minutes ticked down, the Hornets pressed, but Smith and Glasford stood firm, to set up a final against old-rivals North Village.
