Record entry for Junior Open
A record field of up and coming tennis stars will compete for honours in the Sports Locker Junior Open to be held at Coral Beach and Tennis Club that starts today. As many as 70 boys and girls, ranging in ages from eight to 14, have signed up to compete in singles and doubles play at the Paget courts.
Since its inception two years ago the tournament has steadily grown in stature and event organiser, Richard Boyle, believes this year's event will prove to be another success. "Junior tennis is on the rise," he declared. "Each year we are seeing more participants take part in the tournament and it appears junior tennis continues to grow in popularity on the Island."
The tournament concludes on June 13 with the finals in each category followed by an awards ceremony.
