Robinson runs in UK 10K

Slippery, wet conditions provided an added challenge for Bermuda's Otis Robinson when he took part in a multi-terrain 10K race in the English midlands at the weekend.

The Southampton runner is currently living in England and took part in the Bournville Leafy 10K, in the Birmingham area.

He finished sixth overall, in a race that had around 200 starters, and clocked a time of 39 minutes 37 seconds.

Afterwards, Robinson, who held fourth place until the final 800m when he was overtaken by two others, described the race as the hardest of his life due to the hills, cold air and slippery and muddy conditions.

"The first mile was on a grass field and then road.

"After that we went onto a muddy trail," he said, describing running and racing in the UK as quite a bit different from Bermuda.

"It took me three weeks to acclimatise. The air is so cold."

Sunday's 10K was won by Dean Parker in 35.02, with the fastest woman on the course Lindsay Smith in 42.12.
