Robinson slams cricket board over squad snub
Jacobi Robinson has accused the Bermuda Cricket Board of mistreating him and playing politics with his international career.
The Somerset skipper was left out of the latest senior squad earlier this week only a month after playing for Bermuda at the World Cup qualifiers in South Africa.
In the past there have been concerns over Robinson's fitness levels, and his performances in South Africa, where he managed to take just two wickets in three games, were hardly impressive.
The pace bowler, who was talking to The Royal Gazette columnist Clay Smith about the attraction of Cup Match, believes he has been let down by the BCB and blamed what he called 'inconsistencies' in selection policy.
"Players often focus on Cup Match and County because it is the next biggest thing to playing for your country," said Robinson, "and besides there is a lot of inconsistency when it comes to representing your country.
"One only has to look at my situation as a prime example. Back in March I got called over to South Africa as cover due to a Chris Douglas injury.
"Once I got over there I played before players who were originally selected in the original team.
"Now that we are back I can't even make a training squad, yet the same players that I played ahead of in South Africa are selected to train, this reeks of politics."
Robinson believes he isn't the only one who feels this way, and also accused the BCB of driving players away from the national team.
"I am only in my mid twenties and feel I have a lot to offer the Bermuda National Team.
"However, it is mistreatment of players and inconsistencies like this that makes players decide to focus on Cup Match and County, hence the reason why they lose the passion of playing for their country."
