Ross 'Blackie' Talbot charity Classic recipients announced
Clement Talbot, chairman of the Organising Committee, yesterday announced the 2009 charity recipients of the 17th annual Ross 'Blackie' Talbot (RBT) Charity Classic yesterday.
The Classic kicks off on April 6th at the Riddell's Golf and Country Club, with organisers hoping to have over 600 participants for this year's edition.
Over the past 16-years, the annual event has raised over $2,500,000, which has benefited more then 60 charities.
The selected charities that will receive funds are actively involved in youth education, Bermuda's heritage, and preserving the environment.
On hand for the announcement was Phillip Butterfield, CEO of lead sponsor Bank of Bermuda, and Jeanne Atherden, Charities Liaison Committee Chairman.
Among those selected were GreenRock, Impact Mentoring Academy, Bermuda Red Cross, Bermuda National Gallery, RBT Education Awards and RBT Foundation.
"We are once again exceptionally proud to be able to assist these dedicated charities," said Talbot. "I am continually encouraged to witness how the Ross 'Blackie' Talbot Charity Classic grows year after year.
"Its success is attributed to the commitment from our valued sponsors, Classic participants, our volunteers and of course my committee. Sponsors have once again demonstrated their wonderful support, which I know is fully appreciated by all of Bermuda.
"I would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the 100 plus corporate sponsors, our volunteers, the RBT Committee and the community in general who have continued their support year after year. "
A raffle will also be done, with over $100,000 in prizes, including a Mercedes Benz, and a 14-day cruise through the Panama Canal just a few of the prizes.
