Runners face multi-terrain race
Runners and walkers will get to enjoy a race with a difference when they compete in the annual IAS Beach to Beach 5K event on Sunday, March 15.
Starting from Horseshoe Bay, the course will demand that competitors negotiate a course across the beach, through the dunes, through Astwood Park and on the road.
A 1.6K race for juniors is also planned.
Part proceeds from the event, organised by Bermuda Pacers Track Club, will go to The Coalition for the Protection of Children and their "Breakfast in Schools" programme.
Male and female winners will receive a weekend for two at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess as well as a dinner at Port-O-Call.
There will also be prizes for the top three male and females in all categories. All runners will also be eligible for a variety of prizes including two air tickets to fly anywhere on Jet Blue.
Entry forms can be picked up at SportSeller, Sports 'R' Us, the International Race Shop, as well as the IAS offices. Entries can also be submitted online at www.raceday.bm. Late entries will be accepted Monday through Wednesday, March 9-11.
T-shirts and numbers can be collected from the Wesley Methodist on Friday, March 13 between 3.30 to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the popular annual Lindo's to Lindo's road race is scheduled for this Sunday starting at 9.00 a.m.
Runners and walkers will begin from Lindo's in Warwick and finish at the Lindo's supermarket in Devonshire.
Competitors can pick up their numbers at the Horticultural Hall in the Botanical Gardens this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.
