Sims back to his sparkling best
After a frustrating streak on the Nationwide Tour, Bermuda pro Michael Sims has rediscovered his top form in Canada.
Rounds of 68 and 69 at this week's Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic in Clarksburg, Ontario, mean he has made the cut, and will be in the money for the first time in several weeks.
Played over two courses, the Georgian Bay Club (7,139 yards, par 71) and The Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay (7,105 yards, par 72), the tournament is offering $144,018 to the winner from a purse of $800,099.
Sims started with a bang on Thursday, firing a four-under 68 at Raven GC in a round that included an eagle, five birdies and three bogeys.
Yesterday there was just one blemish on his card as he returned a 69 at Georgian Bay with a two-under score that included three birdies.
At six-under overall, he lies in a tie for 29th, seven shots off the lead which is held by Roger Tambellini on 13-under.
The pro-am tournament, which is being shown on the Golf Channel, is sponsored by ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, who is playing along with his wife Janet Jones-Gretzky, former basketball star Charles Barkley and another hockey great, Brett Hull.
