Sims climbs up Tour moneylist
Michael Sims (left) has moved 14 places up the Nationwide Tour moneylist after earning his biggest cheque of the season – $ 13,750 – with a tie for ninth at the weekend's Wichita Open.
The 30-year-old Bermudian leapt from 80th to 66th and has now cashed in a total of $55,657 in the 14 Tour events in which he's played.
Of those, he's made the cut on seven occasions.
His near-namesake, Australian Michael Sim, tops the moneylist with $414,579, followed by winner of the Wichita Open, Chris Tidland of the USA, with $293,680.
Sims' performance on the weekend equalled his best of the season, having also tied for ninth at the Tour opener, the Chitimacha Lousiana Open where he picked up $13,200.
His early season form was impressive as he made the cut in his first four events.
But before rediscovering that form over the weekend at the 6,886-yard, par-71 North Course at the Crestview Country Club, he had made it into the third round just once in his previous six tournaments.
The top 25 on the Nationwide Tour at the end of this season will earn exemption to play alongside the likes of Tiger Woods on the much more lucrative PGA Tour next year.
This week, Sims travels to Springfield, Missouri to play in the Price Cutter Charity Championships.
