Smith happy with draft choices

Knights coach Keishon Smith has identified his chosen players for tonight's Island Soccer league (ISL) Superdraft and is confident of securing their services

Smith was impressed by a number of players at recent Knights tryouts and sees no reason why his team can't make a concerted push for the title once he's put the finishing touches to his roster.

"I'm very happy with my squad and I'm very happy with my draft choices," said Smith. "I've done a lot of research on the players I want and they all attended our recent tryout. I'm confident we can make a title challenge."

Smith wants his team to win by playing attractive football and is determined to enterain ISL supporters this summer.

"It's very important to me that my team play a high level of football," said Smith. "If we play a high level of football the results will take care of themselves. It's important we help generate enough interest to make sure this league keeps on going."

ISL coaches will look to bolster their squads at tonight's Superdraft to be held at Bootsies Comedy Club at 7 p.m.

Each coach has protected eight members of their squad from last year's roster and will draft a further seven players, with the selection order determined by last season's team rankings.

Coaches will get only one minute to select their players. Once the player has been selected the next team will be on the clock. If any team goes over the required time then they will lose their selection. The selection process will continue until each team has selected their seven players.

Last season's ISL saw Storm defeat the Union 5-4 in a thrilling final. The defending champions will have to cope without leading scorer and ISL MVP Antwan Russell who now plays for Bermuda Hogges in the USL-D2.
